Wedding Planning Tips and Weekly Deal Roundup

Wedding Planning Tips

Newly engaged and a little panicked about where to get started on planning your wedding? Worry not, you'll be fine. Here's a couple tips to get you started down the path to planning the wedding of your (and your family's) dreams.

Set the date

You really can't do much until you have that date pinned down. If you have a favorite venue you're determined to use or a time of year you've always dreamed of getting married in, that will help you focus in on the perfect date to get married. Many couples pick a date that is lucky or auspicious. Give yourself enough time to get all your ducks in a row before walking down the aisle.

Get inspired

There are such great resources online to help you figure out what you want your wedding to look like. Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook are all excellent places to start. Websites and blogs (like Happy Shaadi Seattle) are also really good resources to help you get inspired. Once you have a good idea of what you want your wedding to be like, the rest will come together pretty seamlessly.

Book the venue

Many popular wedding venues book up to a year in advance. Get your name on the list as soon as you can. Check out the venue in person if possible. And make sure to talk with the on site coordinators and planners face to face. You want to make sure you have a good level of trust with the on site staff to avoid any trouble as your wedding day nears.

From there you can relax a bit because the major obstacles are behind you. Figuring out the details can be a lengthy (and fun) process, but trust me there's plenty of time for cake tasting. Get the big things out of the way first and you'll have time to delight in the planning process rather than stress about it.

  1. I suggest you also conduct a taste-test. It's one of the yummiest parts of your wedding preparations, plus you're making your guests are getting only the best. Your groom-to-be's going to love this too!
